COSPONSOR IDEAS

 

1. LOCAL HOSPITALS ARE FREQUENT CO-SPONSORS

Try approaching a local hospital for co-sponsorship. Find them by checking your local yellow pages for the listings, Hospitals and Health Maintenance Organizations. Here's who to ask for:

Ask for the person in charge of community relations, or public relations. Then use the talking points listed in The Five Minute Plan to Initiate a Tour of High / Elementary Schools.

 

2. YOUR DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH
(State, County and
Municipal)

Call your Department of Public Health (see the State by State list below). Also try calling your State capitol, County and Municipal Department of Health. Ask for the tobacco control officer there. When you get them on the line, say you'd like to talk to someone about sponsorship of a speaker on smoking in your community. 3. COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

Try calling a local college for co-sponsorship; often there is a substantial budget for bringing in outside speakers. Ask for the Student Activities Director and the student in charge of choosing guest speakers. Having a co-sponsor can cut the cost in half or more. 4. LOCAL CORPORATIONS
